A note about this piece.

Laura uses tiny pieces of printed text and pattern, combined with acrylic paint, to create her images and to relay a bit of history of the place:

• The Shambles is a beautiful little street in York, and the inspiration for 'Diagon Alley' in the Harry Potter books
• Some of the collage papers are in French to honour Betty's Tearooms (whose history begins in Switzerland and France)
• There is a sign for Artisan Chocolates
• The sign at the front is for 'York Ghosts Merchants' as York is reputed to be one of the most haunted cities in Europe.
